How can therapy help?

Many people begin therapy at moments of crisis, when their usual ways of operating in the world stop working. The defense mechanisms that we developed in order to survive in the past may have morphed into symptoms. And these symptoms have begun to bring us into conflict with our loved ones, with our ability to perform at work, or to succeed at fulfilling our own hopes and dreams. Our symptoms may have at one time been manageable, but gradually worsened, making life more and more restrictive and difficult.

As your therapist, I can't promise a cure or a quick fix. I also can't promise that you'll eventually find your way to happiness. However, what I can offer you is a new way of looking at things and a new approach to the way you've been operating up until now. This shift in perspective can do more than alleviate your symptoms; it can open up a new world of possibilities and empower you to create the life you really want.

I specialize in identity exploration, life transitions, relationship issues, gender/sexuality, creativity, anxiety, obsessive thoughts, self-esteem, shame, and depression. I typically meet with clients once or twice a week. I welcome adults, teens, and couples of all genders, sexual orientations, religions, nationalities, and cultural backgrounds.
